Aficionado

Meaning: A person who is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about an activity, subject, or pastime

eg. He is a crossword aficionado.

Afters

Meaning: Sweet food is eaten at the end of a meal.

eg. We had ice cream for afters.

Agog

Meaning: Very eager or curious to hear or see something

eg. People are agog for the Delhi election results.

Apprehensive

Meaning: Feeling worried about something that you are going to do or that is going to happen

eg. I’m very apprehensive about my upcoming exams.

Audacity

Meaning: The willingness to take bold risks

eg. Her audacity came in handy during the emergency.

Meaning: Attack someone physically or verbally

Meaning: Someone who is rude, noisy, and unpleasant.

eg. She thought he was loud-mouthed and uncouth.

Meaning: Advantage/ the positive part of a situation

eg. It’s annoying that we can’t travel until Thursday. But the upside is that the tickets will be cheaper then.

Vex

Meaning: Make(someone) feel annoyed, frustrated, or worried

eg. Don’t vex your mother, she’s in a foul mood.

Vim

Meaning: Energy; enthusiasm

eg. Tortoise is full of vim and vigour.

Wend

Meaning: To move slowly and not directly

eg. The thieves then wended their way through the dark back streets to the docks.
